[opensuse] Anyone have a working vnc server start script they can share?
Anyone have a working vnc server start script they can share? Right now I start a vnc server manually like this: vncserver :49 -alwaysshared -geometry 1024x768 I would like to have this start automatically with these settings. I tried adding this command to /etc/after.local and after setting environment variables as well, it almost works. It runs, but I can't get it to load the correct window manager from xstartup. Loads correctly when run manually. Thanks, James -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Copy /etc/init.d/skeleton to e.g. /etc/init.d/startvnc, then modify according to our specs above. Start at level 3 and 5, require at least network before starting.

After you've created the script, run 'insserv startvnc'. /Per -- Per Jessen, Zürich (12.6°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

You can also put into boot.local, this is called at the very enf of boot up. -- ---------------------------------------- The trouble with being punctual is that nobody's there to appreciate it. -- Franklin P. I don't think boot.local is called at the end, but more toward the beginning of the boot up. I think after.local is called near the end. Either way, I tried both and had some success with after.local, but didn't work 100%. You also have to setup environment variables. I've also tried the rclocal workaround that's out there and have limited success with that. I miss Redhat's rc.local. I'm going to attempt the init script as Per suggested.
