Tumbleweed (probably others) mozilla repo firefox-esr and thunderbird create 1 zombie each on start?
All, This is a curiosity that I'd like to understand. When thunderbird or firefox-esr start, then create a defunct process. I don't recall what the type was on 15.4, but now 'ps afx` list the processes as zombies: 2521 ? Z 0:00 | \_ [firefox-esr] <defunct> 4046 ? Z 0:00 | \_ [thunderbird-bin] <defunct> The apps are running fine, but what is this defunct process that is created? Is it a startup wrapper that dies after it's done leaving the child process running and nothing to reap the parent/wrapper? Both are installs from the mozilla repo and on Tumbleweed that is: $ rq firefox-esr MozillaThunderbird firefox-esr-128.0-4.1.x86_64 MozillaThunderbird-115.13.0-2.1.x86_64 What say the wizards - crystal balls firing on all 8 tonight? -- David C.
