[opensuse] Sax and "1800 x 1440"
Hi, I have a Dell Ultrascan P1110. This monitor has a maximum resolution of 1800 x 1440. This resolution is not offered in Sax. How could I add or configure this the easiest way? What version of SuSE are you running. It makes a *big* difference -- David C. I confirmed that on Dell's web site. Most likely what was meant when that spec was written was 1920x1440, which also is a standard 4:3 mode. 1800x1440 if it actually exists is a screwball aspect ratio nobody should want to use. Try 1800x1350, which is a standard 4:3 mode. If that doesn't work, try 1792x1344, or even 1920x1440. Most likely that model is a Sony Trinitron under private label to Dell. All my Trinitrons from 17" up whether sold by Dell or Sony or IBM will do up to 2048x1536. Your's probably will too, though maybe not at as high a refresh as you might prefer. If Sax refuses to provide anything above 1600x1200, let it do that, and then edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf manually to add what you ultimately want. Here's a list of standard modes Sax ought to include as choices: http://mrmazda.no-ip.com/auth/std-resolutions.html -- "The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day."
