I am running SuSE 7.3 Pro, 2.4.10 default kernel Wanted to get some information on crontab, so I type the command man crontab I get the error message gdbm fatal: read error I reinstalled gdbm. Still get the same message tried man hdparm, man top, man tex, man anything. Always the same error message. i have experienced a lot of hard lockups recently, but that is another story. Any ideas about restoring man. I looked at /usr/share/man and the files are there. Clicking on, for example, /usr/share/man/man1/crontab.1.gz shows the file crontab.1 Any ideas. Mike -- Michael A. Hi Michael, I found that this problem happened on a laptop in which I had two mouse devices assigned in the XFConfig. One PS2 and the other a USB mouse. When I unplugged the USB this error happened with man. Plugging in the USB mouse and the problem vanished. Hope this helps.
