I will shortly install SuSE 7.1 on a machine with a Tekram DC390 SCSI card. The notes for this card say that (in Windows) the card will be incorrectly recognized as an AMD. (It doesn't say what effect this might have.) According to the instructions, there is a Linux driver for Redhat on the Tekram ftp site. Is there any reason I can't use that (presumably it's in RPM format, I haven't looked yet) and if so, do I install it using RPM or YAST or YAST2? If the system installs an AMD driver automagically, and it works, is there any reason to change? The SCSI hardware includes the CD, BTW, so I hape I can install Linux! Has anybody been here before, and if so, what advice do you give me? TIA --doug

I have been using this card since Suse 6.4 and yast sees it correctly no problem at all. -- Togan Muftuoglu
