I need to input a phone number to a shell script. Very simple task, but how do I do it from KDE? The user is computer challenged, so she needs to see only the field to write the phone number and aoptionally an OK button. Does a KDE <-> shell interface exist? -- Kaare Rasmussen --Linux, spil,-- Tlf: 3816 2582 Kaki Data tshirts, merchandize Fax: 3816 2501 Howitzvej 75 Åben 12.00-18.00 Email: kar@kakidata.dk 2000 Frederiksberg Lørdag 12.00-16.00 Web: www.suse.dk
You have potentially two options : 1) use a dcop interface ( start "kdcop" and choose KAddressBookIface and then interface "newContact()" ) 2) and possibly a bit more dangerous, write a script to add your data to the xml file containing the address info ) CPH On Sunday 17 November 2002 13:48, Kaare Rasmussen wrote:

Good day Kaare,

Try looking at kdialog. It's in 8.1, but is not installed by default. It's not perfect, as it's a 0.2x version, but for simple tasks it works. Best regards :o) Johnny :o)
