ok, I think I tried this before, but I'll try one more time. I don't know if it is a ME problem, a kmail problem or a bug. I have folders setup in kmail to use a specific account to send mail. It doesn't matter what folder I am in, but when I hit reply, or new message, it ALWAYS uses the last used account to send mail. I am using kmail 1.8 with KDE 3.4.0 level "b". hints or suggestions?? -- Paul Cartwright Registered Linux user # 367800 X-Request-PGP: http://home.comcast.net/~p.cartwright/wsb/key.asc

1.8.1 using KDE 3.4.1 here, and it works like a charm. Perhaps you should try updating to the latest?

I'm not going to jump through hoops to install KDE 3.4.1, I don't want to mess up my setup. Think of me like a stupid ( ok, lazy, ignorant) user who wants it to work and doesn't want to mess with it IF it works. How would I know to upgrade to 1.8.1 and 3.4.1 ??? YOU doesn't show it, and neither does my setup.

It's availabe in the supplementary directory. Add ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_9.3/yast-source as an installation source in YaST and then go to "system update". That will get you kde 3.4.1

I thought system update was only for when you had new CD's. like going from 9.1 to 9.2 , I didn't realize you could use it for online updating. There seems to be a few too many ways to update SUSE... confusing to say the least.

It started, gave me the setup, and gave me an error, corrected by modifying the packages. Something about katv being obsoleted be Kaffeine.. now it is running. and still running at 8:43... time for bed, maybe it will finish overnight.

Very interesting. I didn't know such a possibility exist. Are there other packages that can be kept up-to-date the same way ? Or is there a more generic FTP location that can help to have the whole system up-to-date ? I tried your suggestion for KDE, but I was faced with 2 dependency conflicts (As I remember, one of them was about xine-mad, used by Kafeine.) Should the needed package have been on the FTP site, or is this an issue that has to be resolved "by hand" ? Have a look through the whole supplementary directory. Also have a look in the /pub/projects directory But note that none of this is official or supported. It's presented on a "have fun" basis only

Run YaST online update and get the optional multimedia packs (needs to be selected manually, they won't be getten automagically). xine-mad is in one of them, I forget which, but you might as well get all four, they're not that large It can also be found on packman (http://packman.links2linux.org), another repository of up to date software for suse
