[opensuse] Can't configure Speedtouch 330
Hello i´ve downloaded the beta 1 of opensuse 10.2 64 Bits version, i have an Thompson speedtouch 330 USB modem and i can't make it work. First Option: i found this page: http://support.novell.com/techcenter/sdb/en/2002/05/configSpeedTouch.html It explains how to set up the modem but in the 4 step the "make" command say something like the version of one of the files is for 32 Bits and i have 64 Bits operating system. :-( ¿how to fix this? Second Option: I've tryed with the tutorial from this site: http://www.linux-usb.org/SpeedTouch/suse/index.html who works fine in my old mandriva 2006. I do all steps with no problem but when rebooting there's a pair of messages: "Module pppoatm not found" "Module br2684 not found" And the ppp package IS installed in my HD Some one has solved this? I have a 3 com ethernet adapter, and have the same problem. I looked at /lib/modules/2.6.18-1.2798.fc6 , there is no /net which I think is where the adapter files should be. If you go down the kernel/build/net path, all that exists there is the Makefile, which is a generic Makefile form accepting arguments, so there is no indication of where the modules source code would be. In my case I tracked down the error messages and discovered that the missing module is 3c501 for the old 3Com adapter my linux system has. I have discovered via google that many other versions have a similar problem with this ethernet card, so maybe I have to upgrade. However, it did work with the RedHat that I had on the system before, so there is clearly a disconnect of some kind. I am guessing that the build didn't pick up the network card files, although I would think that would have been caught in a trial install somewhere. Does anyone else have any information?
