[SLE] problem loading sound card module
hi all, i just upgraded from 6.2 to 6.4 using the May 2000 snapshot CDs. i had to rerun pnpdump and modify /etc/conf.modules in order to get my sound card running again. shouldn't be a big deal, cause everything worked fine under 6.2. however, there is a problem. i have commented out the lines "alias sound off" and the two lines following in /etc/conf.modules, and i have uncommented the lines appropriate to my soundcard (SB16), but somehow, the modules that are needed are not loaded automatically on startup. i can load the modules manually by 'modprobe sb', and then the sound card works ok. so there is no sound card setup problem. the driver for my ethernet card is also loaded from /etc/conf.modules. strangely enough, that does work properly. anyone know what i'm missing here? of course, i could just put 'modprobe sb' in boot.local, but that shouldn't be necessary, right? thanks in advance, joost kremers ______________________________________________ FREE Personalized Email at Mail.com Sign up at http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
