Hi Linux People Advice needed. Wife needs to make backup of data from her personal pc. I copied data over the network to my machine. Need to do the following: 1) Burn a DVD with all the information. 2) Optional be able use lightscribe and label the DVD with a nice photo of me so she has sentimental reasons not to loose it. Suggestions welcome.. I would use KDE and K3B.

I've never tried Lightscribe, but their website seems promising. After you agree to the license there is an RPM. You should try installing that with "rpm -i package_name" as root. I would concur with K3B. KDE isn't a requirement (you need the libs, but don't need to be actually using the KDE desktop). Jim -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

This is true. I use K3B on both my SuSE 10.3 KDE system and Ubuntu GNOME system. -- -- Jerry Feldman <gaf@blu.org> Boston Linux and Unix PGP key id: 537C5846 PGP Key fingerprint: 3D1B 8377 A3C0 A5F2 ECBB CA3B 4607 4319 537C 5846

K3B works well for me. I have no experience with Lightscribe, but other recent posts have referenced it. -- -- Jerry Feldman <gaf@blu.org> Boston Linux and Unix PGP key id: 537C5846 PGP Key fingerprint: 3D1B 8377 A3C0 A5F2 ECBB CA3B 4607 4319 537C 5846

The Lightscribe tech. is HP's. The software for Linux, (2 apps....1 from HP and 1 from Lacie), ONLY burn the label image. You still need K3b to burn the CD/DVD. k3b works fine UNLESS your dvd is connected to your system through usb. If that is your setup, then you would need something else, nerolinux does work... d. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
