Someone just gave me a hand-me-down iphone 3. A quick search at opensuse.org didn't turn up much. Can someone kindly point me to what software etc. can be user for an iphone. I note from the manual that you need to download itunes to register but there is no download for Linux. I haven't got an account yet but I want to get started. Is there a way to get to the apps and itune stores? Just point me to a beginning point. -- Bob Rea mailto:gapetard@stsams.org http://www.petard.us http://www.petard.us/blog http://www.petard.us/gallery What do you say to Jesus when he comes again? How about http://www.apple.com ? Your iPhone runs iOS, not Linux nor Android. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (5.5°C) http://www.dns24.ch/ - your free DNS host, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Yes, I know that. Sorry if I did not make my question clear. I was asking whether there are ways on a linux box to register a phone, get apps and ringtones and other features. I am hoping someone has worked some of this out and can guide me. -- Bob Rea mailto:gapetard@stsams.org http://www.petard.us http://www.petard.us/blog http://www.petard.us/gallery What do you say to Jesus when he comes again? With Android, as long as you have a GMail account, you don't need the computer to do anything. You can download everything through the included Google Play app. Does not similar exist for the iPhone? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Doesn't have to be a Gmail account. A Google account will do.

*And* the other way around: you can leave your phone somewhere and login with a browser on your desktop at the Google store. Choose one of your phones/tablets from the list and install what you need. Just point me to a beginning point. I haven't looked recently, but these were helpful in past when setting up my ipod touch (IOS 3). After this a google search may also be helpful for more recent info.
https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/446848-iphone-how and the software you will probably need is here http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/FunkyM:/iOS/ HTH, Gustav.
