Hi, I am trying to install a Linksys LNE100TX PCI ethernet card into linux, so I can use my Cable modem for an internet connection in Linux. I am using Suse Linux 7.0. When I run YAST1 or YAST2, the ethernet card is not recognized. Is there something I need to do to configure the card properly. Thanks, Brian ---------------------------------------------------------- Brian Hushbeck (916)568-5358 brian.hushbeck@home.net

We had one of these at our User Group meeting last week. We found that it was a wincard. By that I mean a card that only works with MS Windows. Three of us tried all sorts on it. Refused to work at all. That was with Mandrake 7.2. My own favourites are low cost NE2000 PCI cards. These work very well. Unless of course you need a high speed card or use Beowulf stuff. If you want to throw money away the 3Com cards can be very good but I find that the 3C509 cards only work with earlier versions of Linux. Thanks -- Richard
I think you need toi use the dec tulip driver for this one ? Its the fast ethernt 10/100 card Right ? At 05:35 PM 1/16/2001 -0800, Brian Hushbeck wrote:

Have you looked at the SuSE support database? If your card is marked v. 4.0 or 4.1, you need a newer driver: http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/en/html/ashley_linksys-tulip.html Unfortunately, I don't speak from experience. I have a v. 4.1 card and have tried compiling from source obtained from Donald Becker's website, but have run into "unresolved symbols". Maybe I'll have to update to a newer kernel? Good luck. -- Neal Eldred <neldred@juno.com> <neldred@qwest.net> [SuSE Linux 6.2]
