I made a big mistake: I tried to print from GIMP. I should have known better. When I tried to do so, in SuSE 9.0 Pro, it stopped my printer from printing anything. That was a while back, and I can't remember what I did to fix the situation. I repeated my mistake yesterday with GIMP and SuSE 9.2 Pro with the same result. Now, I can't print from any application, including OpenOffice. I got no error message. YaST printer config is fine. When I do lprm, it says "unable to cancel jobs." Would someone kindly remind me what I need to do to fix this problem. many thanks. Kelly -- Kelly J. Morris <kjmlists@comcast.net>

Either that, or a nice reboot.. I hate doing that!!

I had a similar issue...I ended up deleting the printer, and re-adding it. Solved my problem but may not be what you were looking for. :) I never did figure it out... I could cancel the job, but then it would show up again a few seconds later. -- Thanks, George If there is no monitor, it's an Apple ASIP server. If there is a dusty stool sitting in front of it, it's a Linux server If there is a comfortable chair and several coffee cup stains in front of it, it's an NT server. If no one can remember where the server is, it's a Novell server. If there is a high paid network admin contractor, comfortable chair, several coffee cup stains sitting in front of it, it's a Apple OSX server.

George - Thanks. I deleted the printer and re-installed from the DVD. The good news: it works! The bad news: Even though all my oOo settings (e.g. paper is "US Letter"), margins, etc. have remained unchanged, it now prints low down on the page, as if printing a "US Letter" formatted document on a printer set to print on A4 paper. I've looked all over and can't find any setting set to A4. Where might I look to re-set this? Many thanks. Kelly

I cannot guess what exactly might have "stopped" the "printer". Perhaps printing was stopped for the queue and you must reenable it with /usr/bin/enable, see http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2004/05/jsmeix_print-cups-in-a-nutshell.html "The Backends" Kind Regards Johannes Meixner -- SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Maxfeldstrasse 5 Mail: jsmeix@suse.de 90409 Nuernberg, Germany WWW: http://www.suse.de/
