9.0 and automounting a usb connected digital camera.
Hi all! I am trying to get my Pentax *ist DS to get automounted in 9.0 It sort of worked in 9.1; If i was in runlevel 3 or in a second termina without usb mouse detected it mounted fine. If i was in a X-session it hung totally (no access whatsoever). Probably due to the MS explorer USB mouse conflicting or something. But never mind that. Due to several other stupid backfires in 9.1 i decided to get back to trusty 9.0 Now to my problem; I cant get the hang of how to make the cam auto mount itself. It IS detected and all.. How can i get it automounted and ready for use as i connect it, and how do i umount it after use? -- /Rikard --------------------------------------------------------------- Rikard Johnels email : rikjoh@norweb.se Web : http://www.rikjoh.com/users/rikjoh Mob : +46 735 05 51 01 PGP : 0x461CEE56 ---------------------------------------------------------------

I have tried following the howto's and texts regarding automount, but it still doesn't work. The kernel finds it but somehow the automounter doesn't mount anything. Also, found out that the rest of the automount features (cd/cd-rw) is non functional too. I did a update from vanilla 9.0 KDE to KDE 3.3.91 Via apt. And something was removed. (kdebase3-SuSE) I cant reinstall it due to dependenciesand warnings about being broken. So what do i do? -- /Rikard --------------------------------------------------------------- Rikard Johnels email : rikjoh@norweb.se Web : http://www.rikjoh.com/users/rikjoh Mob : +46 735 05 51 01 PGP : 0x461CEE56 ---------------------------------------------------------------
It doesn't automount in 9.0 because submount is not set up by default in that release, but is in 9.1 I don't know how to set it up (I hate it as it happens) but that's what you need to look into. You might just put an icon for the device on the desktop to make it easy to manually mount just with a click though. Dylan -- "I see your Schwartz is as big as mine" -Dark Helmet
