[SuSE Linux] 3Com card not working. Help!
Hi all, I just installed SuSE 5.3 on my box, and I am having tons of troubles. The last one, is the netcard, which is a 3Com 3CSM905B-TX fast ETHERNET I tried the 3c59x.o module, but that's what I have at the boot, from dmesg.
3c59x.c:v0.99E 5/12/98 Donald Becker <A HREF="http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/linux/drivers/vortex.html"><A HREF="http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/linux/drivers/vortex.html</A">http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/linux/drivers/vortex.html</A</A>> eth0: 3Com 3c905B Cyclone 100baseTx at =0x38000, ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff, IRQ 11 1024K word-wide RAM 3:5 Rx:Tx split, autoselect/NWay Autonegotiation interface.
Enabling bus-master transmits and early receives.
1) I _think_ that 3c59x.o is the right module, but not sure. 2) the ff:ff:ff means that the HW address is not initialized properly, right? Could it be a HW problem, that is the card is broken ? I say that because the box arrived with no OS on it, not even W95, so I never seen this card working. Any help is HIGHLY appreciated... Please, reply to me because I am not subscribed to the list. It appears that a bit of work is being done on it... Hope this helps...

Yes, that's the correct driver.
2) the ff:ff:ff means that the HW address is not initialized properly, right? Could it be a HW problem, that is the card is broken ? I say that because the box arrived with no OS on it, not even W95, so I never seen this card working.
