Where do you get 'smart' from? It's not on my installation sources, neither does apt-get install find it...

from the HOW-TO smart packager ( thanks to google) http://wiki.suselinuxsupport.de/wikka.php?wakka=HowtoSmartPackageManager mart is a package manager that works on all major distros (APT, APT-RPM, YUM, URPMI, etc), and offers "better package management for these distributions, even when working with their own packages". Smart comes with it's own GUI, so just one package takes care of it. Installation You can find smart here Guru Rpm's∞ http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/rpm-navigation.php?cat=System/smart/ Simply, download it and install it with YaST or from the command line: #rpm -Uvh smart-x.xx-x.guru.suse.xxx.i686.rpm (where x is the version number). You don't have to install ksmarttray unless you want it in the tray. -- Paul Cartwright Registered Linux user # 367800

What kind of mouse is it? USB or...? What does it say in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf in the InputDevice section for the mouse? Did you try using YaST to configure it?

After updating one system from 9.2 to 10.0 I also lost the mouse. I spent a lot of time trying to fix it. I'm sure there is an answer but since I had the home directories on a separate partition I re-installed from scratch and the mouse worked fine.

You didn't answer my question about the configuration file. What does it say in the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf in the InputDevice section for your mouse?

Since I still had the 90 day install support, I had them guide me through key strokes(mostly tab,arrow,F2) resulting in being able to run Sax2 and get to the mouse configuration. The mouse is a std PS2.. But by changing the name to the first one listed for PS2(mice?) and configuring, all was OK and was back in business. Sorry can't be more specific.
