[opensuse] Problem getting evolution exchange connector configured
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 This problem manifests itself under Suse 10.1 and SLED 10: While working my way through the Evolution Setup Assistant I select Microsoft Exchange as the Server Type for receiving mail. Under "Configuration" I enter my user name in the Username: box and in the OWA URL box I put http://owa.example.com/exchange (using the real address of our OWA server, of course) I click on Authenticate and enter my password when requested. So far, so good. The trouble is, the "Forward" button remains greyed out which I assume means something isn't recognised in the configuration. This is the first time I've come across a version of evolution that just asks for username and OWA url (The version that is supplied with Solaris 10, for example, expects the Exchange server's address rather than the OWA address, and I've successfully had that version connect to Exchange) and there's no "Help" button to clarify what is required. Anyone have any ideas what the assistant has a problem with? I've tried the following URLs: http://owa.example.com/exchange/ http://owa.example.com/exchange http://owa.example.com/ And the following usernames: username username@exchange.example.com DOMAIN\username All without success. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've switched from using XP to SuSE in order to try and show others how relatively simple it is and wanted to use a single mail client to access my unix/linux mail accounts and my internal exchange account (and also have access to the exchange calendar) but in order to access internal email I'm having to run Outlook on an XP virtual machine under VMware! :) - -- Paul Walsh Systems Manager (UNIX), Library and IT Services UCE Birmingham -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with SUSE - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFFGicNMgcRY6KQRjQRAutmAJ9eH4SQxYlonapxv0BSFN5/aEeHbwCfdrYC E/fkbYjdLGtjRMi1+D6K2pc= =xaUE -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Have you got any further with this? I too cannot get it to work. When I saw your post I was hoping it would help me from the flood of replies you'd get however I too am still waiting and watching :-( -- Regards Peter Cannon "There is every excuse for not knowing there is no excuse for not asking" --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

What version of Exchange is your company running? It should with with Exchange 2003 with the following: http://bla.example.com/exchange/ DOMAIN\username password -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with SUSE - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFFHQtKVNg2nHvclOMRAre2AKCIvTr+E/NvfOfcHyb2fUYZeuMgjgCfWKwu kA5jhlAsaiNW9W1nHxvLpBA= =ov3U -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Good question, I'll have a look on Monday (Off today) I spoke withe one of our so called Engineers who said he doubted we use OWA? Its a bit galling that with Outlook 2003 I just stick my user name in hit the verify button and hey presto it works.
It should with with Exchange 2003 with the following:
http://bla.example.com/exchange/ DOMAIN\username
Hm, I may have entered the above wrong, I get "Please verify the full path to the OWA"
password
Actually I would have preferred to use Kontact for this rather than Evolution but figured with the 'Exchange Connector' it would have been easier to use Evolution. I'll give it a whirl on Monday unless you have any other thoughts? -- Regards Peter Cannon "There is every excuse for not knowing there is no excuse for not asking" --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

OK, My initial attempts were to an exchange2000 mailbox via exchange2000 OWA (running on Windows 2000 Server) Following a lead from Justin Haygood I had my mailbox transferred to Exchange2003. Unfortunately I still have problems but they're probably Exchange/OWA related (now there's a surprise!). With Exchange2003 the following message appears when I click on "Authenticate" and supply my password: Exchange Connector requires access to certain functionality on the Exchange Server that appears to be disabled or blocked. (This is usually unintentional.) Your Exchange Administrator will need to enable this functionality in order for you to be able to use Evolution Exchange Connector. For information to provide to your Exchange administrator, please follow the link below: http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?/ximian/ximian328.htm... This link, in turn, refers to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;326444 Having taken a quick look at our E2K3 OWA server we don't appear to have URLScan installed/configured. I've asked if this could be considered for testing. (un)fortunately I'm the only person so far who's "bitten the bullet" and switched to using a Linux desktop (having been issued with a new PC ;-) For the time being I'll just have to keep on using a windows XP virtual machine (under VMware) to access my internal exchange/outlook email (my external email address gets delivered to Unix and is picked up by Thunderbird). I can understand the desire to have Evo communicate with E2003 but... a) there doesn't appear to be anything *obvious* to say it will *only* connect to 2003 b) There's no Help facility to advise the user about what config details are required c) There's no mention of the URLScan requirement. d) Why assume that anyone running Exchange these days will be running 2003 ? As I said in my initial message, the connector supplied with evolution on Solaris didn't have a problem connecting to exchange 2000 (haven't tried it with 2003 yet) All things considered, though, I rather like the look/feel of 10.1 (even more so with SLED 10 - menus are less "busy") compared to SLES9 and earlier. I'm hoping that with a bit of arm twisting I can get our exchange 2003 servers set up to allow me to use a single email client. I'll keep folks posted as to progress (or lack of it!) - -- Paul Walsh -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with SUSE - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFFHSuxMgcRY6KQRjQRAq49AJ0cUDMKf0KmSWKVHQ26S5AJEiFwAwCbBkON MCQedKyJIpxsm1nLxLKAb6U= =bsjf -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Have you verified that you can logon to OWA through your browser? http://en.opensuse.org/Outlook_Web_Access_%28OWA%29 pflodo Peter Flodin --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
