56k External Modem - UK use only
Hi, i am shortly moving home and will have to give up my BT Home Highway. In anticipation of ADSL :) I will be looking for an external 56K modem. Can any UK SuSE users recommend one and are the USB types compatable now that kernel 2.4.x is out Thanks -- Stu "The specification said Windows 95 or better, so I installed Linux"
I use an ELSA microlink USB 56k modem (NOT the fun modem) with SuSE 6.4, 2.4.0 kernel. There may still be problems getting kppp to work with this modem. For ADSL you will need a different device. The BT ADSL package comes with an Alcatel ADSL USB modem. I don't think it or any other ADSL modem is listed on www.linux-usb.org or the SuSE hardware database. My best guess is that you'll have to wait a bit until ADSL works with linux. JDL Stewart Watson wrote:

I would highly recommend it. Sean ... What's a new brides' wedding night dread? Microsoft. <-> Gateway Info.
