[opensuse] openSUSE packages: PowerTOP / Kernel with CONFIG_TIMER_STATS
[ cross posting, please remove one of the lists on replies, if applicable ] Hi, I've recently added PowerTOP 1.2 [1] and Linux 2.6.22 RC1 (CONFIG_TIMER_STATS=y) to the repository * http://repos.opensuse.org/home:/thoenig/SUSE_Factory/ Expect the kernel to be unstable and not suitable for productive environments. If you find applications to be provocative towards waking up the CPU(s) please take it to the responsible upstream developer(s) and file bugs on [2]. Thanks. You will need to install the kernel provided in the repository, too. Be careful not to overwrite your current kernel when doing that. Timo -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Is there a reason why the required option(s) are not enabled by default in Factory/10.3 Alpha? -- Peter Nixon http://www.peternixon.net/ PGP Key: http://www.peternixon.net/public.asc -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

There is a ongoing discussion about that. We can not enable CONFIG_TIMER_STATS for the default kernel as it brings overhead which we do not want by default. But you may expect a solution for 10.3, e.g. CONFIG_TIMER_STATS may be enabled for the debug kernel.
