Shouldn't that be /etc/X11/XF86Config for SaX2? I thought /etc/XF86Config was for the old XFree86 (before version 4.)
Yes. I my first post I stated: "and the same thing for /etc/X11/XF86Config " Sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear enough. The point, friends, is that when you run Sax2, you shouldn't have to do /anything/ but click "Finish" and then type "startx". Agreed? Do the rest of you do something besides click on the Finish or Save buttons? ---------------------------------------------------- Jonathan Wilson System Administrator Cedar Creek Software http://www.cedarcreeksoftware.com Central Texas IT http://www.centraltexasit.com
I usually "change configuration", so that I can further tweak it to my satisfaction (or to make sure its using the "nv" option). Might want to try that and see if its any different. Matt -- "The only thing complex about Linux are the users themselves."

OK, so if I see this correctly you did : 1) install suse and configure XFree 3.3.6 2) installed XF4.X 3) tried Sax2 to configure ? It looks like there's something with your particular hardware that makes Sax2 fall over.

True

I usually drink coffee during the process, but I cannot see that make any difference. Doean't Sax2 log it's actions somewhere (/var/log/Sax2.log ?) Can you send a copy of the XF86Config you have ? What kind of videoboard are you using ? Which XF4.X are you running ? Stock Suse 7.X (4.0.3 on 7.2)
