[opensuse] VLC stopped working after latest update due to lack of mpga codec
Hi all, I have a playlist file containg my favorite online radio stations and usually listen to them with VLC. A few days ago after some update it stopped working, complaining about the lack of mpga codec. And it says there is nothing to do about it. Any experience out there? oS 12.2 KDE 4.10.2, but the same is the situation with XFCE Best regards, Albert -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
Do you have the package vlc-codecs installed? If not install it and check again. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Thank you! Vlc codecs were not installed. Now VLC starts flawlwssly, but still no sound. There must be something with Phonon settings (brrr!!) either. Regards, Albert -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Regards, Albert I am no expert with sound in vlc but you could try
Go to preferences in vlc > Audio Output Mode > Select ALSA, in the drop down select you default audio device at least this is what I have, there may be better solutions though. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

The problem was there. My settings are slightly different now, but at least work. Thanks and regards, Albert -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
