[opensuse] Thunderbird: 'autocrypt' and 'openpgp' appearing in HEADER
Some may have noticed that over the past couple of weeks or so that the 'Normal' header[1] in _some_ posts has suddenly been displaying new entries called 'autocrypt' and 'openpgp' with the former containing many lines of alpha-numeric characters. See here: http://susepaste.org/48357201 Having the Header filled with these alpha-numeric characters is a PITA, but this can be easily remedied by doing a minor edit in the about:config file. To do this go to: Edit>Preferences>Advanced>Config Editor Do a search for 'autocrypt' and _delete_ 'autocrypt openpgp' in the 'Value' field. No need to restart Thunderbird. this might work but a few additional comments: Autocrypt is a new feature included in Enigmail. If you don't use enigmail you don't get that at all. In case you use enigmail you might rather want to disable autocrypt in the account settings under OpenPGP-Security->Autocrypt In addition you might want to read https://autocrypt.org/index.html Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

What openSUSE release are you talking about? I don't see any of that in Leap 42.3 -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.3 x86_64 "Malachite" at Telcontar)

I am using Leap 15.0 which is where I came across this "problem". However, the 'autocrypt' feature is found in Leap 42.3 and in Tumbleweed but not "active" so to speak. In 'about:config' look for the entry: mailnews.headers.extraExpandedHeaders which will have a blank Value field. If you want to see what this autocrypt info looks like in the Header have a look, for example, at any _recent_ post by Simon Lees. (It is also interesting to note that if you look at the HELP feature in TB you will see that it shows v52.7.0 in 423., 15 and TW, but when you look in Yast2 you will see that TB is different in each: 52.7-60.1 in #42.3 (installed 25 Mar); v2.7-lp15.2.10 in #15 (installed 4 May); 52.7.2.2 in TW (installed ? Apr.) Thank you, Wolfgang, for your comments and the URL re autocrypt. I have read some of the info given there and when my head stops spinning I'll reread what I read :-D. BTW, I do not have enigmail installed so why the autocrypt showed up in the Headers of msgs from a selection of people on the openSUSE mail lists is a puzzle to me.
