Yep, pretty cool. I will probably end up buyingit. Just hope that it sets up Xfree 4.02 with an Nvidia GTS 32mb card much more easily... Maybe Ben can give us a few more teasers as to what new stuff we can dig our teeth into... Guess it was the same for 3Dfx cards when they first appeared (ie nightmare). If it comes with stickers and a Geeko keyring I will probably get it. And hey, I am wearing that pin badge on my jacket for awhile now :-). Matt On Fri, 26 Jan 2001, Darrell Nobles wrote:

Well, I plan to install 7.1 this weekend on my home box which is now running 6.4 and has been since last April...if I run into anything cool or cruel..I will be able to answer more questions. Right now because of my duties here I haven't had as much time with 7.1 as I would like ;) Regards, => =>Maybe Ben can give us a few more teasers as to what new stuff we can dig =>our teeth into... => -- Ben Rosenberg mailto:brosenb@suse.com --------------------------------------- SuSE Inc. 580 Second St Suite 210 Oakland CA 94607 U.S.A Tel: 1-510-628-3380 EXT:5086 Fax: 1-510-628-3381 --------------------------------------- "There are no problems, only solutions."
Great, Ben. I have the same, I run 6.4 at home since May. Do you plan to do a clean install, or upgrade? Would it better to copy all my changes to the system (and /home of course) onto a CD and do a clean install, or upgrade will work? I plan to tar up everything that I need and moving it to my 2nd hd which is /home and then doing a fresh install. I always do this..then I reconfigure everything based on my old settings that I need. * Konstantin (Kastus) Shchuka (kastus@tsoft.com) [010126 10:37]: =>Great, Ben. Will the 2.4 Kernel be available for 7.0 users to download as an upgrade? I know Mantel has one on his website, but will the be an offical one for 7.0 users? I will probably still get 7.1 though...Its the pretty packaging that does it I swear! And the stickers :-). Matt On Fri, 26 Jan 2001, Ben Rosenberg wrote:

Forget the box.. I've got too many of those now.. And forget the book too. I love the stickers, and that cute little pin I got with 7.0.. Now that's cool.. ;-)) Ben is right about the tar route though.. Although I go one better. I tar it up and put it on a drive that is separate from the entire system. Usually on one of the computers on my network. Then it's a simple matter to get samba up and running, and retrieve what I need. I keep a generic Samba config on a floppy that I can just copy in and start.

Yeah, that would work if I had anything that required that noisey smb stuff ;) I guess if I wanted to I could just setup appletalk and move it to my wifes box ..but I think I will just move it to my Sun *wink*. You are right..getting it off the machine is the best thing, but I have upgrade this way through so many versions that if I screw this up..I need to resign from SuSE and become one of those guys who picks up can's on the sides of highways. *grin*. * Mike (bcomber@freezer-burn.org) [010126 12:39]: => =>Ben is right about the tar route though..
