I haven't seen this behavior on openSUSE 11.2 Have you tried to run k3b as root ?
Just tried (as root). Got the following result Writing DVD+R Using Wodim 1.1.0 - Copyright (C) 2006 Cdrkit suite contributors Starting writing at 16x speed Probably a buffer underrun occurred Please choose a lower burning speed. It still seems to be trying to use the CD stuff i.e. Wodim. The message about speed I only got as a result of using root. I get a totally different message as normal user. I've burnt hundreds of DVD's before without any problems. This is a new system (less than 6 months old) but I believe I have burnt DVD's on this system before. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

No, wodim burns dvds just fine. Did you specify a burning speed? Leave it as "auto". If it was "auto", lower the speed.

Not related strictly to the topic but you can get Joerg Schilling's original cdrecord from opensuse factory repo. I think it works with 11.2. http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Base:/System/openSUSE_Factory/ http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Base:/System/openSUSE_Factory/i586... http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Base:/System/openSUSE_Factory/x86_...
