How to format VFAT on command line?
Greetings: On Suse 8.1, how to format a partition with VFAT or FAT32 using the CLI? I can do it with the Yast partitioner, but it is less convenient than just typing in a command. I think it should be mkfs.vfat, but this command isn't available, nor does it seem available onthe CDs. Thanks for input. Good day! -- _____________________ Christopher R. You're right. man mkfs suggests that mkfs.vfat should be the command. man 8 mkfs.vfat and pin mkfs.vfat produce nothing. But, a Google for mkfs.vfat returns mkdosfs. Here, SuSE 9.0, this is installed in /sbin and man mkdosfs works. Maybe someone forgot some symlinks? -- Vic Ayres
