Would ReiserFS be better integrated with the SuSE 6.4 release? i.e., would I be able to create ReiserFS partitions from YAST when doing a fresh install? Also, if you currently use ReiserFS, what are your opinions on the FS? How well does it work? Is it stable? Any problems, compatibility issues? You can already use it with 6.3, but you need to recreate either a cd (cd1) or by nfs install. you need to download some patches from SuSE. See the german SDB about that. (I still got the translation I send last week to the list...) It seems pretty stable to me. My perception is that it is noticeably faster than ext2, although I didn't do any benchmarks on the old file system before converting. 8GB partition. I intentionally crashed it and copied reiserfsck to a floppy so I could test it via a boot disk. It took some time to rebuild the bitmaps, but it worked, in spite of all the warnings about it being beta and all. I am impressed so far, although reluctant to put it onto a production server yet. -- Brad Shelton On Line Exchange http://online-isp.com -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
I hear evryone talk about Reiser-fs; where can I find a good (technical) description? Brad Shelton wrote:
