Subject: RE: [SLE] Old style page numbers in LaTeX
Corvin,
I would love to help with all your far-flung LaTeX requests to bend the
default *.sty files and macros. However, I receive these emails at work on
NT, and my memory / my books / my machine are all at home, so I really can
only help with the more basic things!
But as a passing comment, and not a criticism, I suggest that either a) you
investigate the trillions of sty files out there that help folk format
their work for various institutional in-house styles and adapt them, or b)
abandon LaTeX, as its macros are designed for people for whom a common core
of settings is acceptable, perhaps instead you might be better off with the
more flexible and low-level TeX?
Incidentally, we received yesterday our copy of the TUGBoat and TeXLive 5
CD (wonderful!), and browsing through that always gives me new ideas for
things to try.

I've yet to get ahold of TeX Unbound... but in the meantime, how do
you change page numbers so that they are text figures and not titling
figures?
Best,
