Hi, everyone, Finally got Suse 8.0 and I'm preparing mentally and logistically for the upgrade. I have a probably exceptionally dumb question. My Suse machine is on a network with some windows machines. I have the /home/nick networked mapped on my W2K box so that it appears in Windows as H:. But how can I mount the windows drive C: or O: on my Suse machine so that I can do this, as suggested by Fergus last week: cd / tar zcf /oldetc.tgz /etc cp oldetc.tgz /somewhere/safe/off/disk Thanks in advance, Nick
all in one command do mount -t smbfs -o username=yourusername,password=yourpassword,ip=win2kip //WIN2KMACHINE/C$ /mnt use the username and password of an admin user or else this wont work now you can cd to /mnt and your entire c drive should be visible. note, this only works with win2k and winnt machines. for win9x machines, you have to explicity share the c drive whereas on winnt its shared by default (isnt that great security) On Monday 22 April 2002 04:53 am, Nick Selby wrote:
