[opensuse] CD player irritation
Since 10.3 no longer includes Kscd, except the KDE4 version, I've been using Kaffine to play CD's. However, one very irritating thing about it, is the "video" that plays along with the song. Is there any way to turn off or otherwise get rid of that annoying crap? -- Use OpenOffice.org <http://www.openoffice.org> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Have you tried pointing the "video generator" at something like /bin/true (or putting a link to /bin/true in the directory which holds all of the video generator executables? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I can make that change, but it's restored when I start Kaffine again. -- Use OpenOffice.org <http://www.openoffice.org> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Not if you make the change while kaffeine isn't running Anders -- Madness takes its toll -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

This time it stuck, but there's still a big black panel there. It would be nice if Kaffeine would simply appear as a player, without that sort of garbage. -- Use OpenOffice.org <http://www.openoffice.org> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Found it. tnx I don't have a problem with someone adding that sort of garbage to an application, providing there is some convenient way to turn it off. If I want a computer full of crap, I can always run Windows. -- Use OpenOffice.org <http://www.openoffice.org> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Use Windows Media Player.
Even if windoze media player was available natively for linux... ew... I'm betting there are probably some DRM handcuffs in there somewhere too. Oh wait, I get it - that was a joke, just like "use beagle"... There are lots of choices for playing CDs - I prefer to rip them and play the mp3s (or oggs) though, since that's a lot more portable. FWIW amarok and banshee play CDs too. Joe -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
