Hi,
Didn't M$ invested in Borland, some couple of months ago ?
Yes $150 Million, but the official line was that this was for outstanding patent issues (MS stole RAD issue), and licensing of Borland 'technologies' for Windows (Borland do COM better than MS). But MS still ended up with 10% shares. Which means that MS will own about 5% of Corel, so in a round about sort of way MS is now distributing Linux. Mind you because of this merger Corel now has an Operating system, Office Suite, Development tools (c++/Delphi/Java), Middleware technologies (VisiBroker CORBA, AppServer), Databases etc. all of which will be available on Linux, if not already, in a few months. Another MS in the making? Judging from the quality of Corel Linux, I would say "yes." ;) Cheers, Dennis "Custard pies are a sort of esperanto: a universal language." --Noel Godin -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
My mouth is wattering at all the goodies right around the corner , especialy delpni on linux. This must have M$ smoking , I mean look at it. Os , Dev tools , desktop , what next. Every think M4 gets a hold of either gets canned , or microsoftized into there bloat/vaper wear. Remmber foxpro , they had a big chunk of the pie , then ther was dbxl that they bought and caned. I realy like the borland stuff , and they do listen to the message boards and list. They also keep in mind the small devoloper and third party. Just look at delphi and there third party tools avialable. Most of wich source code is avialable . (It may caost twice as much for the source but its there as an option. Borland even released the source code for the vcl components as well.
