I'm trying to compile MPlayer on an x86_64 box running 9.2. To install MPlayer, I need to install xmltv, and so I'm working my way through installing xmltv's prerequisites including this version of tk. The installer fails with this message: LD_RUN_PATH="/usr/X11R6/lib" cc -shared -L/usr/local/lib64 Tk.o chnGlue.o encGlue.o evtGlue.o objGlue.o tixGlue.o tkGlue.o tkGlue_f.o tkWin32Dll.o -o blib/arch/auto/Tk/Tk.so pTk/libpTk.a -L/usr/X11R6/lib -lX11 -lm /usr/lib64/gcc-lib/x86_64-suse-linux/3.3.4/../../../../x86_64-suse-linux/bin/ld: cannot find -lX11 collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [blib/arch/auto/Tk/Tk.so] Error 1 I have all of the X11 libraries installed, so the makefile is looking in the wrong place for it. However I haven't been able to track down the right place (although I suspect it needs to read /usr/X11R6/lib64) or how to indicate to the makefile where to look. The worst part is that I'm sure I've dealt with this problem before, but I don't remember how I solved it. Thanks Hilary
