You ever ventured deeply into the depths of IBM? IBM is indeed a corporate monster with this division doing things that bother that. I was a OS/2 user for about 9 years. IBM PSP, that venerable shop that made OS/2 was vilified and denigrated by their own hardware shop. You could not buy a brand of PC with OS/2 preloaded; yet, other divisions would only support NT. The main thing is that you are not talking about IBM in the generic sense here. You are talking about some division of IBM which said this. There are probably other divisions which would viciously deny this. And others that simply do not know anything about it. Whenever IBM is mentioned in the press, the "certain sources law" should apply. But instead the interviewee should have to state clearly what division he or she works in. IBM has always been terrible at marketing but they make truly great operating systems. -- Michael E. A couple of days ago, I said that I had problems with IP Masq(ing).......... With the exception of 1 irate fool on this list, most people helped me, and were quite patient...... However I have come across another stumbling block...... I finally managed to get my ISA Kingston NIC working with IO 0x0280 and IRQ 12 and everything seems it does mention that eth1 is detected. I also went into Yast and made the necessary IP and other configs in the Network Configuration. Now 3 problems remain...... 1. When I start xWindows, it says that the mouse is not there. Now I am using a Ps2 mouse and I am sure that the ISA card is conflicting. 2. Once I get problem 1 settled (with all your help of course), I need to figure out how to set up IPFWADM to work with the 2 cards and what IP to assign the cards......... 3. And finally, I need help on what settings to put in the Windows95 box. (I wish there was a DHCP server for SuSE 5.3) (btw.....is there one that I can use that will work RELIABLY?) - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>

Hi again, change the value irq 12 in /etc/conf.modules and in /etc/isapnp.conf to a different free value. Maybe 9, 10, or 15 ? - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>
Hello people. I am back once again. I have been recovering (and still am) from pneumonia. Anyways, yeah, IRQ 12 is FIXED for the ps/2 port. I looked at the /proc/interrupts and found out that int 10 is not being used, so I will try int 10. Wish me luck!! :-) zentara wrote:

If I recall....ps/2 mice MUST use IRQ 12...or am I mistaken? If this is true then you must assign a different IRQ to your NIC.
