I have compiled the latest GLIB library from source but when I run ./configure for something that uses it (gaim) I get this message; *** 'pkg-config --modversion glib-2.0' returned 2.2.3, but GLIB (2.0.6) *** was found! If pkg-config was correct, then it is best *** to remove the old version of GLib. You may also be able to fix the error *** by modifying your LD_LIBRARY_PATH enviroment variable, or by editing *** /etc/ld.so.conf. How would I go about removing the old library, or preferably recompiling the new one so it correctly overwrites the old one? I thought of uninstalling it from Yast but there are so many other packages that depend on it. I am running SuSE 8.1. Thanks. -- Steve Crane http://craniac.afraid.org

Try adding the path where your nerw glib is installed to /etc/ld.so.conf and run ldconfig again. Then try compiling your application. HTH JW
