Dear all, I just installed SuSE8.0 in my testing box. I use yast to change kernel to Intel. This made my box crash. When I reboot I can see lilo prompt. I press return. It shows kernel load.... and hung up here.... If I boot in rescue mode. Can I recompile my kernel again? Your help will be appreciated. Regards, LTG

I would just copy the kernel back off of the CD, or more than likely, it is still in your boot directory, and you just need to edit LILO to boot it instead; or still pretty likely, it is in your boot directory and LILO already has an entry for it (Old or something) or in any case there is the safe kernel, which you can boot and then do your repairs. Press the <TAB> key at the prompt and see what it says. When you place a new kernel into service save the old one and don't immediately make the new one the default. mg
You need to use the one that was installed during install. If you have a Pentium (p5) to a Pentium4 or any of the K6 through Athlon chips you should use the kernel marked deflt...not the i386. That's for 386 chips.. :) * LTG (012801849@mobitel.com.kh) [020703 19:16]: ::Dear all, :: :: I just installed SuSE8.0 in my testing box.
