amarok 1.3.5 does not play ogg?
Hi - after an update (using apt-get) for 10.0 (x86_64)) amarok does not play any ogg files with the xine-engine or the helix engine. It would play with the gstreamer artsdsink (but no other sink), but that performance is really not the best. I had the gstreamer problem before but xine worked flawless. Under xine I cannot even drag a song to the play list. I got the message "Some media could not be loaded (not playable)" I still can play ogg files with Juk and realplayer, so apparently there nothing is missing. I also downgraded to amarok 1.3.1, but same problem there. I guess something in an underlying library has changed. I have amarok-helix-1.3.5-3 amarok-gstreamer-1.3.5-3 amarok-1.3.5-3 amarok-helix-backend-1.3.1-7 amarok-xmms-1.3.1-7 amarok-xine-1.3.5-3 libxine1-1.1.0-12.pm.1 xine-ui-0.99.4-5.pm.1 xine-lib-32bit-1.1.0-12.2 Anyone noticed the same? Any hints? TIA gl -- Gnter Lichtenberg ========>mailto:lichten@sron.nl

Hi Randall, I got the from the apt4rpm repositories at ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/ SuSE/10.0-x86_64 - I didn't really pay attention from which one. I have in my list base update security rpmkeys extra suse-people suse-projects packman suser-drcux suser-jengelh suser-scorot kde I would guess it is in the kde, suse-* or extra... With 'apt showpkg amarok' you get similar information, just look for the Versions string. -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless

That's Detlef (drcux) building my src rpms.

Yes, well.. there are issues with gwdg.de fetching my updates, since a few weeks. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It's a very annoying situation but.. we don't seem to be able to find a solution. It's both related to the very high load on ftp4.gwdg.de and some bug in rsync (that only seems to be triggered at very high load).
Pascal, please have a look. I get "connection refused".
I'm only checking my connection state at the times around when you usually grabbed my RPMs, but
lately I've seen attempts in the middle of the day, at 23:00, etc.. so.. can happen ;)
(it's up now, so.. ;))
But last night's sync was
2005/10/26 21:50:23 [27202] rsync: read error: Connection reset by peer (104)
2005/10/26 21:50:23 [27202] rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(515)
again... so it seems that downgrading rsync doesn't help at all.
It got better the last few days, but last night failed badly.. :(
cheers

It was hanging at my side (not terminating - --timeout was set!).
again... so it seems that downgrading rsync doesn't help at all.
Same opinion here. I have reverted to the new version now and done the YOU to SUSE-10.0 version rsync-2.6.6-2.2, but the 10.0 update was only regarding ACL support, so no new hope, I guess.
It got better the last few days, but last night failed badly.. :(
It only was better because I had iterated after each timeout error... There is a bug in rsync regarding timeouts. Not only in 2.6.6, but already in 2.6.3. This for sure. I see it with most of the "assumed currently under high load" upstream servers, even if my side is almost idle. Pascal, the rsync is running, and ftp4 has a load of 0.9 currently... Done with rc=0. At least an unawaited success, but probably nothing more... APT repository generation at ftp4 will start soon, propagation to ftp will start at 3:00 MEST (in 90 minutes). Cheers -e -- Eberhard Moenkeberg (emoenke@gwdg.de, em@kki.org)

Great. And, yes, probably just being lucky this time...

Could you please resync before that ? Just built a few more packages ;)

Done, but no luck again: rsync: read error: Connection reset by peer (104) rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(584) ... and the other side is seeing just the same I bet. It seems that rsync has got very unreliable the last time... Some rsyncd admins prefer to set a short timeout value for their daemon, which is very crazy and boring (I can see this way whoever of my uploads is serving SUSE too - they all lack to feed me with their "original contents" just in the SUSE release situations). Restarted again now (with iteration after 3 minutes on abort), but only with hope (with little) for the next APT repository generation after 5 h GMT+2 (in 140 minutes). No chance but let it run, I have to enter my bed now. Cheers -e -- Eberhard Moenkeberg (emoenke@gwdg.de, em@kki.org)
