Digs, chill. :-) There are people on the list that "may" be able to help you install afterall. If you want help, you might give as many details on your failure as possible, such as error messages and what alternatives you tried. Also, give details on your hardware, such as cdrom, drives, cpu, ram, etc. Or, just ignore this post. On Sun, 20 Dec 1998, digs wrote:

I was given a corrupt cdrom that will not install I was promised another copy and have not recieved it.. I was told I would have my new copy by 12/18/98
Before you assume I dont know how to install or otherwise use Linux/Unix you are wrong.
The fact is I own and operate a small bussines and had been using Slackware and staroffice for my invoicing needs.
Should you choose not to respond today 12/21/98 I will take you to small claims court for the amount of my purchase.
I have tried upwards of 15 times to conntact you during bussiness hours.

Hi- yes i have chilled a fellow /Dave Fletcher/who works at the american office has got a new set of cdroms heading my way.
There are people on the list that "may" be able to help you install afterall. If you want help, you might give as many details on your failure as possible, such as error messages and what alternatives you tried.
Yes thats good to know,I bet there are alot of you on this list several times more sharper than me.
Also, give details on your hardware, such as cdrom, drives, cpu, ram, etc.
The problem is a corrupt cd /disk1/ lx_suse.rpm contains a bad header after taking the cd over to a freinds house /he's running redhat/ I tried to open the rpm in midnightcommander and on the commandline the file is bad or the image of it is at least. What really got me going was nobody would return my call or I would get put on hold and no one would get back with me.. I made the move to linux /slackware/ about 2 1/2 years ago. I use staroffice for my book keeping needs and after reformatting I proceeded to install SuSE when the error made its self known. The installation would simply wig out- ie. the package that would'nt install was needed by other packages and this quickly proved to confuse yast.At this point the install would tell me of the errors and recomend a reinstall. lx_suse.rpm bad header My hardware is in line with all that SuSE is able to run on,I checked so while some hardware is better than others mine is fully compatable.Disk space is not a problem. These things can happen no biggie, but to be ignored is not an option I will entertain after paying $60.00usd. I'am sorry for all the fuss but I had exhausted all other means of getting SuSE to respond, gladly they did. digs - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>

This is aimed at Matthew D. Howell using MS Outlook. You should use TEXT as a reply to this mailing list vs HTML crap..., ok? <snip>

I ran across the same thing when I purchased 5.3, but I received *2* updated #1 CD's. (seems like SuSE confused my new address with my old one, and just shipped to both..., even though I sent email notifying them of my new address.) Also, I did install 5.3 prior to the updated CD. Specifically to SuSE: I would like to see a form available on your site(s) so customers can update their address, email, etc..., thus saving you postage, and us headaches. ;) Dana -- dlaude@execpc.com Dana J.
