I just noticed that under 9.1 my touchpad isn't working. Where do I go to turn it back on? Thanks, Jerome

Very strange, I got it working. This is what I got on /etc/X11/XF86config: Section "InputDevice" Driver "mouse" Identifier "Mouse[1]" Option "ButtonNumber" "5" Option "Device" "/dev/mouse" Option "Name" "Autodetection" Option "Protocol" "ExplorerPS/2" Option "Vendor" "Sysp" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" EndSection Note that the 5 buttons and ZAxisapping are needed to use my USB mouse. I am using both with this configuration anyway. Praise

I too have a usb mouse connected to my vaio. But I have two mouse input sections. Should I only have one? I can move the cursor now suddenly for no apparent reason but tapping the touchpad still has no affect (it works with windows so I know its not hardware). Here are my sections: Section "InputDevice" Driver "mouse" Identifier "Mouse[1]" Option "Buttons" "5" Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice" Option "Name" "Autodetection" Option "Protocol" "explorerps/2" Option "Vendor" "Sysp" EndSection Section "InputDevice" Driver "mouse" Identifier "Mouse[3]" Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice" Option "Emulate3Buttons" "on" Option "Name" "Autodetection" Option "Protocol" "explorerps/2" Option "Vendor" "Sysp" EndSection Jerome

If your problem is the lack of tapping ability on your trackpad you may need to do what I have had to do on two other laptops, Compaq and Dell. That is go into SAX and reselect the mouse as Synaptics Touchpad. For some reason Yast doesnt have that selection but SAX does it just fine. Richard

Have tried the SONY Vaio löaptop hardware configuration in the kde pannel? I've been wondering if that works... I'm impressed with sony, (or maybe sony users) for adding hardware support directly into the kde controll panel.. Unfotunatetly my laptop is an IBM! Anyone tried this? Jerry

No, it doesn't work. The Suseplugger opens the Yast mouse config module. No touchpad configs offered in the list though. Jerome

In fact, mine work with a common mouse configuration. Praise

You make me think its a hardware problem. I'm going to boot XP right now and double check:-). Jerome

This hasn't worked for me. I go into Sax2 select Synaptics Touchpad, restart, no change. I did notice when I make the Synaptics change in the Sax edit window and close it then reopen the window the Synaptic change is not shown. I can't tell if its in a buffer somewhere or in /dev/null. But the touchpad isn't responding to tapping, still acting like it's only a mouse. Jerome

I've had to do an install on laptops 4 times and each time I had to go to the command line, init 3, the do sax2. After selecting the Synaptics/Touchpad you must restart Xwindows to make it work. RA

Yes I have 2 inputDevice for touchpad and mouse, but they are identical to yours. And everything works perfectly. Praise
