Audacity and sound card recognition?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Might someone give me some direction or heads up on how to get audacity to see my sound care? For that matter, I have a keyboard (musical type) hooked into my SB-Live 5.1 card. I can get kaconnect to see the midi port. But, I get no input from the keyboard to the system that I can hear. Any help would be deeply appreciated. I have an sblive working good with a keyboard. I don't use KDE, but everything works fine for me. I can start up Noteedit under fvwm2, and under Settings/ConfigureNoteedit/Sound I get a list of all the ports. I was surprised that even my usb-midi cable ports were listed without installing any drivers at all. Is your modules.conf setup to see your joystick port? I think there is a setting when you install the sound card, to setup the joystick port. Are your cables good? Maybe read: /usr/share/doc/packages/alsa/alsa-utils/aconnect/README.aconnect You could also try setting up timidity, as descibed in the above doc, and see if you get sounds. Timidity dosn't use the soundcard's sequencer, it uses the cpu to generate the sounds, so it should work. It's possble your soundfonts are not getting loaded. You need to install the awesfx rpm, and also set LOAD_SEQUENCER="yes" in /etc/sysconfig/sound. The awesfx rpm installs sfxload, which is needed to load the soundfonts. Those are my guesses. :-) -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation

I think I saw something to do with midi on the OSDN newsletter. IIRR, it's called 'Muse'. Give it a look on FreshMeat.net John -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.1 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE+k2RHH5oDXyLKXKQRAuvzAKCSqgcF0b8BhCnrP70Fcik7AuqvdwCglCyd 10cBFvMXattbvPpH/FKIiyQ= =E6yx -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
