Hmmm, isn't that "end user from hell"? :D According to the site this scanner is supported by SANE and ndiswrapper is only for Wifi card drivers. Check your logs, in some cases the scanners work as in P2P, others, you need the firmware that comes with the windows drivers (just that binary file). try 11.2 or M7/RC1, if does not work in the latter, AND the scanner is said to be supported by sane, open a bug report. Dunno what are you doing with ndiswrapper btw... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Is it possible that your scanner just died? I know it is evil but perhaps you could test it on a Windows PC?

Damon Register That's the "downer", it works PERFECT in Windoze.

Duaine, I have a Mustek UB1200 Plus and it works fine with SANE. You need the GT68xx frontends package. I'm pretty sure that is included as standard now - it used to be a separate download/compile from the SANE web page. You'll also need the firmware file from your windows driver (sbfw.usb) which was also downloadable from the GT68xx page. That file needs to go into /lib/firmware. There also used to be a bug whereby you had to be logged on as root when you plugged the scanner in in order for it to be correctly recognised and initialised, but I believe that was fixed some time ago because I haven't had that problem in ages (not since oS 10.3 at least). HTH. Rodney. BTW, the GT68xx page on the SANE web site had lots of good info about what was supported and not. When I've encountered problems with bothersome USB scanners which worked perfectly in Windows, but wouldn't work in Linux, I've turned to VueScan. Every time I've done so it's helped. The Linux driver is excellent. I've purchased copies for all my scanners. Perhaps it will help you as well - go to the following URL: http://hamrick.com/ I'm just a satisfied customer. -- JAY VOLLMER Il n'y a aucune honte en étant un paria! -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

The oddball thing now - in Linux - it's working perfectly. And still don't know exactly what I did - I played with permissions in the .xsane directories in /root & my "home" directory, downloaded and reinstalled the drivers from Mustek Taiwan, got rid of the ndiswrapper stuff. At least now, I have everything backed up so if I get in a jam - just do a restore of the directories.
