Unable to change e-mail on buildservice - had to use portal?
Per, all, Is there are reason we cannot update e-mail on buildservice? I tried, but ended up having to use the portal that had a very odd interface: https://idp-portal.suse.com/univention/self-service/#page=profiledata I recall that info being modifiable in buildservice before (or am I just senile?) It would have been set back in July 2008 according to keepassxc? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

I believe that the IDP portal is for employees only. I attempted to create an IDP account and am not able to login there either. It does seem to retain the created user profile though. This is possibly what you are looking for -> openSUSE Build Service <- main page is here -> https://build.opensuse.org/ -Greatest Hopes

No, it is not. When you have problems logging in, the first thing to try is to remove all cookies related to suse.com and opensuse.org (and for good measure novell and microfocus :) It often helps.

For storing your account information.
Ok, so if I change my account information (which I currently do not wish to) in IDP portal. That reflects login for Bugzilla/OBS *and* what else? perhaps mailing list also? Are forums independent of IDP (I think they are)? This is still current then? -> https://idp-portal-info.suse.com/

This is still current then? -> https://idp-portal-info.suse.com/ You're wrong, it provides a single sign-on . Use it on build.o.o, forums.o.o, chat.o.o and so on.

If you change your email address using the self service portal, it will reflect on the next login in most services, but unfortunately not all - for example login to Bugzilla and the Wiki will break and require administrative intervention.

No, they are not. All public facing openSUSE services use the SUSE IDP in some form or another.

Which part of it? Migration from the old login system (I forgot really what it was) has completed 4 years ago. Did you have SUSE account before migration?

Yes, I had an openSUSE forum and mailing list account before migration. Was not paying attention during the era of migration. At one point accidentally deleted my mailing list account access credentials and was unable to use my current openSUSE email account setup to login and repair the mailing list subscriptions (an unknown to me username was then somehow attached to my openSUSE email account. After a considerable amount of time (years) with the assistance of administration it was resolved. I am able to access most all of the openSUSE places I know about - IDP/OBS/forums/mailing list/Bugzilla now without problems. It is unfortunate that IDP cannot globally be used for everything (all openSUSE interfaces) at this time. I think that if someones IDP-Portal information were to be compromised it could be a mess for multiple openSUSE connections. I know now that - Bugzilla and the Wiki - are not connected to IDP. It is unfortunate that my limited knowledge did not know about IDP and what it is for sooner around migration time.

So Bugzilla and OBS *are* connected but will still break and one needs to contact admin then? Why do they break?

They are connected in the sense that Bugzilla is using IDP for user verification. Maybe my reply "IDP is used to store account information" was not quite correct. IDP is used to authenticate users. To this extent IDP is "connected" to most openSUSE services, known to me. But other account information (like e-mail) may still be individually stored by each service. As the account in Bugzilla is associated with E-Mail, when Bugzilla receives different E-Mail from IDP login fails because this E-Mail is not known in Bugzilla. To fix it IDP would need to push updated information into Bugzilla. I have no idea whether this is even possible.

Correct, unfortunately some tools use the username, whilst others use the email address as the identifier. I personally think UUIDs would be a preferable identifier, but we don't have that luxury. There is no automation implemented to push information to any of the services upon changes to accounts in the IDP system, hence users need to contact the respective service administrators.

Yes, they are connected, but something is broken. Only the mail lists are independent. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.5 x86_64 at Telcontar)

Uugh... That mean I successfully updated with idp, but my bugzilla and wiki are still broken. (long story short, office fire and the suddenlinkmail.com account is no more) So I need somebody to help with the bugzilla and wiki. (just swap suddenlinkmail.com to gmail.com -- same username...) If this needs to go to admin@oo, I can forward it there. I already mailed Per privately. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
