I learned on the old borland 3.1 interface. rhide is a similar one for linux and dos. But now it is vi and that is about it. Your really should try different editors and debugers to find what you like. as for the url for rhide . Well I can't remember. charlesiii - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>

There's a couple of nice books I can suggest for this. One is "Programming with GNU Tools" by O'Reilly and associates, which basically explains about whats available to you. And "Beginning Linux Programming" by Wrox publishing (ISBN 1-874416-68-0) which is a nice intro to programming on Linux using C, shell scripting, curses, debugging and so forth and describes how the tools work. As for IDE, I still prefer emacs, or rather xemacs these days. Jed is also an option. If you are using KDE, go to the KDE web site and check out the programs available. There are development tools available, including some IDEs. Some are in beta or even alpha, so beware. HI! Theres an ide called XWPE thats included in the suse distro. I think it take care of all the compilation in a smooth way. I use xemacs and type the compilation command in an xterm, or sometimes write a makefile. On Sat, 12 Dec 1998, you wrote:
