SuSE 'repackaging' Kylix? What are you talking about?
rpm -qi kylix_oe_en Name : kylix_oe_en Relocations: (not relocateable) Version : 1.0 Vendor: SuSE GmbH, Nuernberg, Germany Release : 1 Build Date: Thu 20 Sep 2001 04:36:32 PM NZST Install date: Fri 09 Nov 2001 12:43:07 PM NZDT Build Host: sync.suse.de
As the build host shows, the rpm was made by SuSE. This is the rpm from CD 4, series pay, SuSE 7.3 professional.
IAR, You have two ways of acquiring Kylix,
See above for a third. :)
The bottom line seems to be that, if you're running a shell other than sh, you're out of luck (I hate things which are written with
No. 'sh' is just another shell that can be invoked by prefacing the command with 'sh'. The installation instructions explicitly say to install Kylix by issuing the following command: sh ./setup.sh from the appropriate location.
I thought there were other instructions which would only work with bash, but I won't argue.
What were the results of your bortest?
What bortest? There isn't one. Period. You're making assumptions here. Obviously, SuSE has pre-installed the whole thing already for 7.3, that's a smart thing to do. What they missed is saying how to go from there.
Btw there aren't any scripts in the rpm either.
If you are refering to startkylix, they could have named it something else in what ever rpm you are refering to.
No, I was referring to rpm -q --scripts. Volker

Wow, Volker, I wasn't aware that SuSE had added the Open Edition version of Kylix to their 7.3 distro. I purchased the Desktop Edition five or six months ago and was basing my comments on my experience with it. I had decided not to reinstall the DE version because I didn't like the way it hijacked the environment. I returned to KDevelop. But, now that I know the OE is on CD4 I may install it for gins just to see how it compares with the DE version. Did you go over to sourceforce and download the OE version of CLX?
