Hi,

I have it installed on 6.4, don't have 7.0 yet (waiting for 2.4!). No problems, runs like a dream, you do need a bucket load of memory though, but that is the same with most Java apps. Cheers Phil
Memeory ? like how much ? 64 , 96 , 128 , or 256 , or more and what kind of cpu are you using ? At 11:51 AM 1/10/2001 -0000, Phil Shrimpton wrote:

They recommend 128Mb, but I have yet to find and 'GUI' Java app, on any platform that performs satisfactory with less than 256Mb. As for CPU speed, I don't think that really comes into play until you have got plenty of RAM and a fast disk an eliminated those bottlenecks. I can see a lot, if any difference, between a 400Mhz and an 800Mhz on low-medium end systems. Cheers Phil
Hmmm , OK That moves java lower down on the list. Most of my baoxes are P166 with 64 to95 meg ram with 2 meg video , while my box is an AMD K6 350 with 16 meg video that I use for all the devolpmental stuff. Looks like I will need to do some hardware upgrades in the near furture , and try to replace the loweer end stuff which I am still runing applxware and even moneydance on thanks to linux. On the subject of Borland JBuilder 4.0 I found that it needed a minimum of 128 Mb memory to run on Windows, whereas Visual Cafe got by with 64 Mb. Does anybody know whether there is a Linux version of Visual Cafe? JBuilder runs slow even with 128 Mb.memory on a Pentium 233 Mhz. CPU and Windows. Samy Elashmawy wrote:

I've installed it in Win 98 SE on the same box as SuSE 7.0, and it runs very nicely in Windows, almost like a normal program (the Windows way that is). In SuSE it runs a bit nicer in Blackbox than in KDE (128RAM). I don't think Visual Caf is available for Linux, correct me someone if I'm wrong. ei -- @~~ EagleIce ~ gnu4u@linux.nu ~~@ @~~ Running GNU/Linux & KDE ~~@
