init 6 your machine (or use reboot if you prefer), if that doesn't help clean out /tmp (rm -rf /tmp). I thinkg that X creates a lock file and wont start if that lock file exists (but I'm not 100% on this).

I had power failure and after the power came back up. I get the following error when trying to start X11. Any ideas on what's wrong?
TIA, Jeffrey
_XSERVTransSocketUNIXCreateListener: ...SocketCreateListener() failed _XSERVTransMakeAllCOTSServerListeners: server already running
Fatal server error: Cannot establish any listening sockets - Make sure an X server isn't already running

Yeah, its /tmp/.X11-unix/X0. Now I have a new problem. See below.
Thank you, Jeffrey
XFree86 Version 3.3.6 / X Window System (protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6300) Release Date: January 8 1999 If the server is older than 6-12 months, or if your card is newer than the above date, look for a newer version before reporting problems. (see http://www.XFree86.Org/FAQ) Operating System: Linux 2.2.14 i686 [ELF] SuSE Configured drivers: Mach64: accelerated server for ATI Mach64 graphics adaptors (Patchlevel 0)
Fatal server error: xf86OpenConsole: Server must be running with root permissions You should be using Xwrapper to start the server or xdm. We strongly advise against making the server SUID root!
