I need Gnome to use Evolution for email. I found it was not under the selections for window manager at login. I tried Yast2 to install and selected All of Gnome being careful to remove nautilus2 to prevent problems then I worked the dependencys. Still no Gnome in the selection even with system restart. Does this mean a clean install? CWSIV ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! I also can not make it work for dialup a connection which I do have working on winblows. I searched the installed helps but nothing works. I even setup the modem as root and still nogo. Is there a step by step cookbook answer????????? I tried kinternet. I checked wvdial. I logged in as root and setup the modem and all particulars. The hardware works in windows 311 but NOT IN SUSE. [snip ... previous irrelevant info re gnome/evolution and old sig's] You need to provide much more into. What modem? Internal or external? Is it supported in linux? Have you tried to dial out with minicom? note: works in windoz means _very_ little in linux. -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org

Actually, you don't need to be able to log into GNOME, you just need to have the relevant GNOME libraries installed. Provided Evolution's dependencies are fulfilled, you should be ok. -- James Ogley, Webmaster, Rubber Turnip james@rubberturnip.org.uk http://www.rubberturnip.org.uk Jabber: riggwelter@myjabber.net Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 8.2) GNOME updates for SuSE: http://www.usr-local-bin.org
