Hello,
I missed the first part of this thread but are you using kernel 2.2.x? If yes then I think the default printer device changed from lp1 to lp0 in 2.2.x. You could check the kernel changes file. If your not using 2.2.x then just ignore this drunken scotsman.

Thanks -- I took a look at Documentation/Changes, but the changeover from lp1 to lp0 as the default only seemed to relate to Plug-and-Play -- at least from what I could see in a quick run-thru of this file. Anyway, after switching to lp0, I don't get the error message (and no print-out) -- I guess this indicates that the correct port setting is lp1 for me. -- Glenn -- (currently sober Irish/Jew) - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
