Hi, What is the better way to scanner a transparency? Thank you -- Jose Thadeu Cavalcante thadeurj@terra.com.br
Hi, It depends which transparencies (6x8" or small 36 mm, negatives or positives), for what purpose, and what quantity. BTW, you can find many tips and suggestions in my article - "Scanners - the Ulitmate Guide" http://snow.prohosting.com/guru4mac/scanners1_ultimate_guide.html BTW, do not expect any good result if you are not fluent in image editing. ------------------------ Jose, This probably depends on your budget and needs than anything. If budget allows, then one of the negative/transparency scanners like Nikon sells will do excellent work and is supported under Sane. I think as Andrei's article points out now, the flatbed scanners are very close to the same quality. Many of the Epson Photo scanners presently being sold produce excellent results and even support Linux with a scanning program of their own. I have one of the Epson 1650 Photo scanners with the adapter for negatives/transparencies and am quite pleased with it. They have other models available higher in professional quality and somewhat more expensive as well. So, again it comes down to your budget and what results you are looking to obtain. The results I have seen from my Epson 1650 and a customer's 2450 are very close in comparison to the more expensive Nikon slide/negative scanner the lady with the 2450 has. So basically you decide with your available dollars, which is best for you. Thank you for all answer, but I already have a scanner (Benq/Acer 3300 USB). My solution was to put a white paper over the transparency, then go to gimp and after some work remove the background. -- Jose Thadeu Cavalcante thadeurj@terra.com.br
