Hello,
Is there any way to make apt-get download a package even if it's already installed? (sometimes i need to reinstall them, i tinker with em too much...)
I tried "apt-get install -d (package)" but i get: "(package) is already the newest version."
Removing & reinstalling the package isn't a solution (think dependencies),
Hi, Apt-get has its place, but Don't forget /bin/rpm ("man rpm") (rpm is one of the basic building blocks of SuSE) If you go to single user mode (init 1) I found I can safely "remove and replace" a rpm package using rpm -Uvh and one of the options: --freshen --force --oldpackage and if you want you can do a --test, before pushing the enter key. YMMV ! [ Don't forget to do "/sbin/SuSEconfig --verbose" after doing "rpm ..." ] [if the rpm package involves libraries, I often also do "ldconfig -v" for good measure, before I go back to init 5) Friendly greetings. __________________________________________________________________ McAfee VirusScan Online from the Netscape Network.
