Problems with Liquid theme and SuSE 8.0
Well I finally broke down and bough 8.0 and got it to install. The next project was getting Liquid installed. I could not find a RPM at SuSE like I did for KDE2.2 and SuSE 7.2. So I hit kde-look.org and grabbed the tar ball. The ./configure make install seem to go well except it didn't show up in the control panel. Yes I did put /usr/local/kde/bin in the path (even though there isn't a /usr/local/kde/bin dir?) but no luck! So I have attempted to look every where google will take me but still no prize. Mosfet may be a great programmer but you think he could at least put in a README or something. If anyone else got this beast to work or knows of a RPM could you clue me in! Thanks, pben P.S. what happend to the mailing list archive at suse.com?
I went back to kde-look.org and found a message posted. The secret is you have to feed configure your kde install directory, so: su root ./configure --prefix=/opt/kde3 make make install don't forget make clean if you had a failed install like me! Also delete the /usr/local/kde tree since Liquid will go into the /opt/kde3 tree now. Thanks also goes to Kevin L Hochhalter for giving me a link to an rpm. It triggered a further search and some loss of sleep. pben On Monday 01 July 2002 05:39 pm, Paul Benjamin wrote:

It's the newest version that Mosfet has released and it works fine. Also, you may want to download the Keramik style for KDE 3. It's kickass. It's in the experimental directory..for what reason I don't know. It's going to ship with KDE 3.1 :) This is sort of a preview. There is also a patch for it that makes the kicker transparent..very nice. If any of you want to see it.
