Ah well, that's yast for ya. The thing is, in 7.1 you can configure PCMCIA from yast. It is placed in the SuSE profile in /etc/pcmcia/network.opts If you did not configure it from yast, it is overwritten every time SuSEconfig is run. For example after you installed a package. So the solution is to configure your main network config from yast (it would be best if this was a DHCP config, you can use that in any location that has a DHCP server.
